Preparing for Your Appointment

Our team is committed to making your specimen collection experience as safe, efficient, and comfortable as possible while respecting your privacy and dignity. Patient service centers are typically busiest during the morning hours, especially from opening until 10:00 a.m.

 

If fasting is not required for your test, consider scheduling your visit during less busy times of the day to help reduce wait times and ensure a smoother experience.

What to Bring

To help ensure a smooth visit, please bring the following items with you:

  • A laboratory test order or request form provided by your healthcare provider

  • A valid insurance card 

  • A government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or employee identification card

  • A health savings account (HSA) card, credit card, or debit card for any applicable charges

Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times while visiting our facility. For safety and privacy reasons, children are not permitted inside the specimen collection area during procedures. Please plan accordingly before your visit.

How to Prepare

Some laboratory tests require special preparation to ensure accurate and reliable results. Your healthcare provider should give you specific instructions before your appointment. Please follow these instructions carefully.If you are unsure whether preparation is required, or if you have questions about the instructions you received, contact your healthcare provider’s office before your visit.

Common Preparation Instructions May Include:

  • Fasting (avoiding food or certain beverages) for several hours or overnight

  • Drinking more or less water than you normally would

  • Temporarily avoiding certain medications, vitamins, or herbal supplements before testingBefore making any changes to your medications or supplements, speak with your healthcare provider.

 

Be sure to inform them of all prescription medications, over-the-counter products, vitamins, and supplements you are currently taking.

If you were unable to follow the preparation instructions provided by your healthcare provider, please notify the laboratory staff before your specimen is collected. This information can help ensure your test results are interpreted correctly.
